Fresno sweeps West Sound in home opener this past weekend

The Fresno Monsters moved past the West Sound Admirals in convincing fashion as the two teams met in Fresno’s home opener.


West Sound was rocked by a ten-goal performance on the tails of Petr Philippov’s (3G-3A) hat-trick, and six points from Narek Aleksanyan (1G-5A). Max Karlenzig secured his third shutout of the season making 19 saves.


The Monsters started with two goals in the first period and saturated the score line with three more in the second period to make it 5-0. West Sound could only put up six shots in the third period and was outmatched, as it was Fresno’s strongest period with five goals.

The Fresno Monsters improved on the previous night’s frenzy and scored nine goals in the third period making it the final impression between the two teams this season. Seven Monsters registered multiple points while Zackory Turpin (5G-4A) had a team leading nine points and a hat-trick. Narek Aleksanyan also scored a hat-trick.


Jayden Pasillas earned his first shutout of the season as he stopped all 15 shots faced.


The Monsters scored three goals in the first period and three in the second to compliment their nine goals in the third.


West Sound has now lost their last 16 games of the season and is still pointless in 2019-2020.
