Cody Key Hired as Monsters Assistant Coach

FRESNO, CA – Former Fresno Monsters forward, Cody Key, has been hired as an assistant coach for Head Coach Kevin Kaminski’s staff. The hire had been rumored for a bit but was confirmed on Monday by Monsters Director of Operations James Karr.

Key is a Fresno, CA native where he played three seasons with the Fresno Monsters in the WSHL. Key was a leader for the team as he spent the last two years as captain and leading the scoreboards. He scored 121 goals and 198 assists in 192 games between 2014-2018 in the WSHL. Key also currently holds Fresno’s Franchise All-Time Assists per Season with 86 assists during the 2017-18’ season.

“Cody is going to bring a wealth of hockey experience and knowledge to the Monsters bench” said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. “As a player he was great on the penalty and the power play and I’m looking for him to take that knowledge & help correct things with our players and systems.”

Kaminski, Key, and the rest of their Monsters roster will begin the 2018-19’ season in October at Selland Arena.
