Fresno drops game 2 in Vegas with a 3-2 loss

The Fresno Monsters (6-2-0) drop their second game in a row in a 3-2 loss to the Las Vegas Thunderbirds (8-0-0) on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT WENT DOWN The first period seemed to be relatively modest with only three penalties, 2 to Fresno and 1 to Vegas, and either side struggling to find the back of the net. Things picked up in the second period as Nate Mohr would put Vegas on the board early on followed by Arik Altman halfway through. The Fresno native, Jacob Gagnon, got Fresno back in the game with a goal on the power play late in the second. The game-winning goal would be acquired by Jack Boyd for Vegas at the 4:43 mark in the third with Mikhail Gavrilenko trying to close the gap in time with an unassisted goal at the 13:36 mark but it would prove not to be enough for the Monsters.

LOOKING AHEAD The final game of the three-game series in Las Vegas takes place today at 9:30 pm.
